Canfor Sawmill

Five-S Group completed site development services for the Canfor Sawmill project. Starting with a flat parcel of 60+ acres of farmland, Five-S performed the following:
Stripped the organics
Deep excavation of two large retention ponds
Shaping of the site for proper drainage
With extensive on-site material testing, Five-S made use of nearly all of the material excavated out of the ponds.
Over 400k CY of excavation and placement
40,000 tons of limestone base
2,000 feet of stormwater drainage.
Construction of multiple pads for structures such as kilns, mills, warehouse, etc.
Five-S developed all of the roads and paving base, but the most critical part was the elevated crane mounds. Five-S supported all other subcontractors and took on the site maintenance portion of the job by dewatering, maintaining roads to ensure that all contractors could get around the site and back to work in a timely manner. Five-S also supported in development of the designs and helped identify problems before they became a hindrance to the project.
